We collect only the information necessary to provide our services. Access is restricted through secure user accounts and role-based permissions. We maintain audit logs, encrypt data during transmission, and follow recognised data-security best practices. We will continue reviewing our policies as the platform grows.
Where is school data stored?
Data is securely stored on Amazon AWS cloud infrastructure. AWS provides multiple layers of protection, including encrypted HTTPS connections, secure authentication, controlled access permissions, backups, and continuous monitoring.
Who owns the data uploaded by a school?
Your school always remains the owner of all data uploaded to BantuSchools, including student records, staff records, attendance, grades, reports, financial records, and other information. BantuSchools provides the secure platform used to store and manage that information.
Can our school export its data?
Yes. Your school can request an export if it decides to stop using BantuSchools. The platform also includes reports that allow authorised users to export data in PDF and Excel formats.
Can our school request permanent deletion of its data?
Yes. After receiving your final data export, you may request permanent deletion. Once completed, your information will be removed from our production systems, subject to any legal or regulatory retention requirements.
Is BantuSchools permanently free?
No. BantuSchools is currently free to use until at least the end of 2026 as part of our mission to help Zimbabwean schools digitise their operations. Subscription plans may be introduced later, but schools will receive advance notice before any changes. Our objective is to keep the core platform affordable and accessible.
Can our school cancel at any time?
Yes. Schools are free to discontinue using BantuSchools at any time. There are no cancellation penalties for the free version of the platform.
How do parents access school information through BantuSphere?
With the school’s permission, parents and guardians can securely access their child’s information through the free BantuSphere mobile app or website using their own login.
